Expectations vs. Reality of Online Teaching
If you’re accustomed to doing what you do best in a brick-and-mortar classroom, then transitioning to teaching in the digital realm can be a little frightening. There are many myths that surround online teaching and how it compares to teaching in face-to-face environments. In this session, we disarm myths about online teaching, explore the different types of online learning environments, discuss data regarding online learning in Michigan, cover the basics of quality course design and provide avenues for teachers to begin a part- or full-time career teaching online.

You Get Three Wishes from the PD Genie: What Are They?
Let’s take a guess: One, you wish you could have instant access to quality professional training on skills you need to master. Two, you wish you could design your own personalized learning plan, rather than getting the same stock training menu as all other educators in your school. Three, you really wish you could accomplish both of these goals in an affordable way. While the genie doesn’t allow you to ask for more wishes, we can help you with these three! Join us as we explore ways to grant these wishes — from the individual teacher level to a district-wide process.
